Here’s a run-down of top activities there that should be part of your next weekend getaway.

Hiking

In the fall, cooler temperatures and leaves of red and gold make for an ideal hiking experience. Bear River State Park in Evanston offers several miles of trails, some of which are packed gravel and some of which are paved. Enjoy the fall foliage, gaze out at majestic mountain peaks and keep an eye open for elk and bison while you hike – Bear River State Park is home to several!

Fishing

Those who enjoy fishing will quickly be hooked on Evanston. The city is near tons of lakes, creeks and reservoirs that afford visitors a chance to cast their lines and try for a keeper. Just get your Wyoming fishing license then fish for bluegill, brown trout, bass, crappie, walleye, bullhead and other species in the teeming waterways.

Set your sights on Evanston if you like to hunt. Southwest Wyoming is abundant in elk, mule deer, moose and antelope of trophy quality. Whether you prefer hunting by bow or rifle you’ll have a great time exploring the wilderness, tracking animals and harvesting the bounty of the fall season. Gambling isn’t legal in Utah as you well know, but once you cross into Wyoming you’ll find plenty of opportunities to try your luck. Just head to Wyoming and you’ll find out if lady luck is on your side.

Sipping

Liquor laws in Utah are often restrictive, but you can definitely kick back and let loose in Evanston. Stop by the Suds Brothers Brewery for a pint or settle down in another local bar to relax after an invigorating day spent enjoying the great outdoors.
