This July, Evanston is Full of Fun Events and Celebrations

If you’re looking for some fun to fill up your summer, look no further than Evanston, WY. This little city just over the Utah / Wyoming border has three different events coming up fast, so pick your favorite and start planning your weekend fun.

1. Evanston Brewfest

Head to Evanston on Saturday, July 22 for the ninth annual Brewfest, running from 1:00p.m. through 5:00p.m. at Depot Square. The Evanston Car Show is from 9am-3pm on Main Street.

Taste beers from over 20 local breweries and enjoy music from Utah rock band Natural Causes. Your ticket gets you unlimited tasting and all proceeds will benefit the Evanston Urban Renewal (EUR) Agency/ Main Street Board and Roundhouse Restoration, Inc.

The EUR works to revitalize Evanston’s historic downtown district while Roundhouse Restoration, Inc. is a non-profit that fosters support for the Historic Evanston Wyoming Roundhouse and Railyards. Buy your ticket to support these community-building efforts and enjoy samples from breweries like Snake River Brewing, Sockeye Brewing and Elysian Brewing.

2. Bridger Valley Pioneer Day Parade & BBQ

Many of the settlers who ended up in the Salt Lake Valley took trails that came through the Bridger Valley, and Pioneer Day celebrations are still observed annually to commemorate the pioneers’ courage and fortitude in reaching their destination.

Come to Evanston on July 22 to take part in the celebration. The festivities are completely free and include:

  • A flag-raising ceremony
  • Pioneer games that kids of all ages can try
  • A car show featuring classic muscle cars, some antique vehicles and even the occasional Ford Model T or ’57 Chevy
  • A 5k triathlon
  • A family-ranch style rodeo with competitions in cattle penning, wild cow milking and other fun challenges

If you get hungry, you can even enjoy a big ol’ plate of homemade BBQ for only $5! Those interested in local history and community are sure to love the Bridger Valley Pioneer Day Parade & BBQ and its theme for 2017: Courage Through the Years.

3. The Uinta County Fair

The fair runs from July 19 - August 5th and has something for literally everyone. Kids in particular will enjoy:

There’s plenty for adults to see and do, too. Famed illusionists Murray Hatfield and Teresa will thrill audiences and the Miniature Horse Show will delight onlookers. Exhibit halls will showcase local produce and arts, while shows like the Dog Show, the Cat Show, the Children’s Pet Show and other events will put animals front and center.

Other highlights include competitions like the Junior Rodeo, Homemade Ice Cream Contest and Truck and Tractor Pulls. In short, it’s an event the whole family can enjoy.
