Las Vegas tragedy hits close to home for Utah & UNLV hockey teams
(KUTV) The effects of the tragedy of the Las Vegas shooting is being felt in all walks of life, in this case involving the University of Utah and their scheduled hockey games at UNLV this weekend when both teams learned that UNLV assistant coach Nick Robone was hit in the chest during the massacre.
With his brother Anthony helping, Nick was rushed to the hospital. Initially the two teams discussed cancelling this weekend’s games.
Doctors were able to remove the bullet and fragments, and the UNLV team twitter account posting the following: “we will play for nick, we will play for Las Vegas. We are not here to allow this person's actions to dictate how we live, work, study and play. Together we will unite, and show why this is such a beautiful city.
The Utes will face UNLV Friday & Saturday nights. Robone hopes to attend the games and a fundraiser will take place to help raise funds for his medical bills
