Utes with school-record 8 players drafted

(KUTV) The 2016 college football season has been over for months now, but the Utah Utes are still setting school records.

Utah has placed 7 players in this year's NFL Draft, and the draft still has one more round to go. OL Garrett Bolles was taken by the Denver Broncos with the 20th overall selection on day 1 of the draft on Thursday. Then S Marcus Williams was taken on Friday, going 42nd overall to the New Orleans Saints.

Saturday saw a rush on former Utes. RB Joe Williams was taken in the 4th round by the San Francisco 49ers, 121st overall. Three Utes were taken in the 5th round. OL Isaac Asiata went 164th overall to the Miami Dolphins, CB Brian Allen was taken 173rd overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and OL JJ Dielman was off the board three picks later, 176th to the Cincinnati Bengals. The final Utah player taken was OL Sam Tevi, in the 6th round, 190th overall by the L.A. Chargers. Later in the 6th round, Pita Taumoepenu became the 2nd player taken by the 49ers, 202nd overall.

As for the other Utah schools, BYU RB Jamaal Williams was selected 134th overall by the Green Bay Packers.
