Checketts Announces Sale of Real Salt Lake
(KUTV) Dave Checketts announced the sale of Real Salt Lake Thursday afternoon during a press conference at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Checketts--a multimillionaire and former president of the Utah Jazz--brought the MLS club to Salt Lake City and now turns the franchise over to minority owner Dell Loy Hansen.
According to reports, Hansen is worth 1.2 billion as the owner of Wasatch Property Management. With the purchase of RSL, Hansen also becomes the sole owner of SCP Worldwide Sports.
These properties include RSL, Rio Tinto Stadium and ESPN 700 Radio. Hansen told the Salt Lake Tribune that with new ownership, comes deeper pockets, which means a big name player might be signed by the club in the near future.
Hansen also told the Trib that he has no plans to alter the make-up of RSL's front office management, which includes president Bill Manning, general manager Garth Lagerwey and head coach Jason Kreis.
