Interview: RSL's Nat Borchers
By David James

(KUTV) Real Salt Lake faces their rivals, the Colorado Rapids, Saturday at 4p.m. in RSL’s home opener.  Defender Nat Borchers has been a fixture with the team over the last five years, but he hasn’t played in the season’s first two games and he won’t play against Colorado as he continues to heal after off-season surgery.

David James caught up with Borchers at a team function this week and talked to him about his health.  Borchers says he is looking forward to playing in a reserve league game and if it goes well he will be ready to play in an MLS game.  Asked about the team’s sold start despite missing three injured player, Borchers says the team’s consistent system makes it easier for players to slide into the line-up without missing a beat.  He also refused to cheap shot the team’s elder statesmen, after Nick Rimando recorded his 100th shutout and Kyle Beckerman played in his 300th game, although he allowed for the fact the locker room is a rough place and somebody may have mentioned something about the milestones.
