Doman Says Decision To Leave BYU Wasn't Mutual
(KUTV) Former BYU Offensive Co-ordinator Brandon Doman gave his first interview since leaving the Cougars coaching staff when he joined DJ & PK on Friday morning on 97.5/1280 The Zone.

Doman talked about the quarterback issues that helped get him fired.  He said the final decision on a starting quarterback rests with the head coach and Bronco Mendenhall always made those decisions.

Doman said quarterback Riley Nelson was hurt on the second series of the Weber State game and was never the same again.  He said the injury “prevented Riley from being Riley”.Asked when he might have lobbied Mendenhall to replace Nelson, Doman said during the Boise State game.

Doman also said the loss at San Jose State probably did as much to cost him his job as an any game. Bronco Mendenhall said on signing day that Doman’s departure was mutual, but Brandon didn’t agree.

Doman said he and his wife had agreed he should return to BYU as QB Coach, but he said there was something about his presence in the building with Robert Anae and Bronco Mendenhall that didn’t work.  Watch the interview here.
