One-On-One With Dennis Lindsey
(KUTV) Jazz General Manager Dennis Lindsey sat down with me this week to assess the team at the All-Star break. We talked about the young guys, trade possibilities and the elusive goal of an NBA Championship. Lindsey was positive and upbeat, as you would expect and he also dropped a few nuggets of information we hadn’t heard before.
He clearly isn’t a fan of Enes Kanter’s goofy post-game hats and clothes. Lindsey said he had talked to Kanter, as he does to other young players about how you carry yourself in the public eye. Lindsey also said Derrick Favors is a sponge whether they are talking about personal finances and protecting his money, or improving his offensive basketball skills.
I also asked Lindsey if the Jazz are in danger of getting stuck in the middle of the NBA. Hall of Famer Jerry West famously observed it was great to be at the top of the league, and at the bottom you can get the right guy and improve quickly… but it is easy to get stuck in the middle. Lindsey believes with salary cap space and talented players in their prime, the Jazz are well-positioned in the next few years.
Watch the entire Sunday night interview here and join us for Part 2 of the interview Monday night on KMYU Talkin’ Sports at 10:35pm on Comcast channel 22 and Dish and DirecTV channel 12.
