Favors And Kanter Lead Jazz To 97-91 Win
(KUTV) Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter both scored 21 points and combined to grab 18 rebounds as the Utah Jazz defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 97-91 to wrap up its preseason schedule with a record of 5-3.
Former Weber State guard Damian Lillard played 38 minutes and scored 12 points for the Blazers. Kanter and Favors helped the Jazz open up a 85-78 lead with a little over 6 minutes remaining in the game.
The duo brought the house down during the second quarter when Kanter got a block shot on the defensive end and Favors sprinted to the other end for a monster jam to bring the crowd at EnergySolutions Arena to their feet.
In the fourth quarter Favors made his presence felt again by scoring 11 points and grabbing 2 rebounds.
The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket helped the Jazz to a 89-82 lead with 4:32 to play when he converted a reverse layup.
Afterwards Jazz coach Ty Corbin said Favors has shown great growth from the beginning of training camp to Thursday's win over Portland.
The Jazz begin the 2012-13 regular season at ESA Halloween night against the Dallas Mavericks.
