(KUTV) The Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that the Utah State Aggies are closer than ever to joining the Mountain West Conference.

Beat writer Tony Jones reported that MWC Commissioner Craig Thompson and C-USA Commissioner Britton Bankowski visited Utah State's campus last month as part of fact-finding tour.

This is one of the strongest indications yet that the MWC is considering adding not only Utah State but perhaps Utah Valley University as well.
