Utah State Wins WAC And Biggest Game Ever
(KUTV) It was dubbed as the biggest game in Utah State Football history and the Aggies came through with a 48-41 overtime win over a ranked La. Tech team Saturday and took a giant step towards the WAC title.
With Utah State leading 48-41 in OT the Aggies defense stopped the Bulldogs on downs to win the game.Utah State running back Kerwin Williams rushed for 162 yard s and two scores and QB Chuckie Keeton threw for 340 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Keeton also set the Utah State single season record for touchdown passes and past Diondre Borel's all-purpose yardage mark for a single season.
Ironically, Utah State's slide into football irrelevance began 50 years ago when the Aggies were left out of the newly formed Western Athletic Conference.
Flash forward a half-century and the Aggies return to relevance coincides with the final year of WAC football. If Utah State can beat Idaho next week, which is very likely, then the Aggies will win have won their first conference title outright since 1936.
