Salt Lake City — (KUTV) October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Kara Herron visited Fresh Living to talk about the Lifting Hearts Foundation.
Lifting Hearts was founded by three survivors. It provides a community which includes monthly support meetings. Survivors join together to have classes and do service projects. A one-on-one mentoring program called Bosom Buddies provides assistance to survivors. There are two healing retreats held each year during April and November.
Lifting Hears also hosts a Celebration of Life in May, a family picnic in August and a Christmas party in December.
Donations are accepted and used for the service projects. Fleece blankets are given to chemo patients, heart shaped pillows for surgical patients, rice warming bags, and other care bags. Lifting Hearts supplies several doctor offices and chemo/radiation centers.
