(KUTV) Salt Lake City - Today on Fresh Living Caitlin sat down with Brooke Porter and Brent Severe from the Granite Education Foundation to talk about the critical issue of child hunger during summer months. The Granite Education Foundation serves around 68,000 students, 65% whom are at or below the poverty line. Food insecurities are heightened during the summer when students no longer have school breakfast and lunch that they can depend on. The Granite Education Foundation works to keep six community food pantries open is schools and also works with local businesses and restaurants to provide meal punch cards.
