(KUTV) Odyssey Dance Theatre visited Fresh Living to announce its Spring Repertory Season Shut Up & Dance. ODT will round out its 22nd year with its popular Shut Up & Dance series. Dance lovers will be entertained with three separate programs: Romeo +Juliet and Carmen, plus The Prodigals + MJ.

The series will be held March 9-19, 2016 at Kingsbury Hall on the University of Utah Campus. There will be evening performances at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday matinees at 2:00 p.m.

PROGRAM ONE: Romeo+Juliet March 9 - 7:30; March 12 - 2:00; March 15 and 18 - 7:30 Back by popular demand, see what the Deseret News said was, "to die for!" A full-length work, based on the Shakespearean tale about star-crossed lovers, but in the Odyssey tradition: a hip-hop version.

Choreographed by Eldon Johnson, along with sections by Ashleigh and Ryan Di Lello from "So You Think You Can Dance," Derryl Yeager and others, this is a unique and powerful tour de force. Truly a highly charged and time honored story!

PROGRAM TWO: Carmen March 10, 12 and 16 at 7:30 and March 19 at 2:00 An ancient story with a modern twist, see Carmen as you've never experienced it before. Adapted to the context of the dance world today and a TV show like Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance," with an amazing mix of music, utilizing the best of Bizet and Contemporary Pop classics, Odyssey Dance Theatre's version of Carmen is a contemporary choreographic masterpiece!

PROGRAM THREE: The Prodigals and MJ March 11, 14, 17 and 19 at 7:30 The story of the Prodigal Son is one of the most well known parables in the world but, so often, the story is retold from the younger son's perspective. This version will tell the story of the faithful older son and his struggle to forgive and live with the return of his wayward brother. The Prodigals is the story of both brothers and the struggle to find peace through forgiveness.

The Prodigals will be staged and choreographed by Garrett Smith, a dancer/choreographer who was raised in Utah and has staged critically acclaimed works with New York City Ballet, Houston Ballet, and Ballet West. MJ is a collection and celebration of the music of Michael Jackson, staged with the unique styles and concepts that are Odyssey Dance Theatre. Emmy Winning Choreographer Bonnie Story will bring her perspective from having worked with Michael Jackson numerous times to this 50-minute world premiere. MJ's music had a unique and powerful impact that equaled his talent and presence, the likes of which the world will probably never Don't miss any of them! Senior and Student discountsand many more.
