(KUTV) It's back to school for a lot of kids this week, but summer isn't over!
Take advantage of the summer evenings and get your friends together.
If you are hosting a dinner party, don't be intimidated by setting the table.
Event planner Muyly Miller has some great table setting ideas.
There are two ways you can do it, don't set a table at all, or do set a table. It's how much you want to put into it and how formal and impressive you want to make it. If you want to set up semi-formal dinner table, here are a few tips:
-After you set up your table cloth, you can decide to use a table runner or not.
-Next, set up chargers. They keep the heat from escaping from the plates onto the table.
-Then place the dinner plate and atop that, the salad plate, or if you aren't having a salad, it could be an appetizer plate.
-The bread plate goes on the left ,and on the right have your water glass and a wine or other beverage glass.
- Flatware or silverware is laid out from left to right; salad fork, dinner fork, dinner knife, soup spoon and on top your dessert spoon or fork.
- Cloth napkins come next. If you have napkins that you don't want to starch and press, folding them up into a napkin ring keeps a formal feel without the formal work.
