LIVE coverage and results on . SALT LAKE CRITERIUM ROARS THROUGH THE GATEWAY JULY 20, 2019. The Criterium is a Huge Street Party with a Bike Race o Road closures from 1 until 9:30 p.m. The inaugural Salt Lake Criterium will roar through The Gateway and surrounding neighborhoods. Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 1 until 9:30 p.m. The course will provide big excitement for the bicycle racers and spectators. World-class and local favorite competitors lap a fast-paced, short 1.1-mile multi-circuit.

The Salt Lake Criterium will feature pro men and pro women’s fields with equal prize money ($7,500 each). The Salt Lake Criterium is a crowd-pleasing cycling race featuring o Top criterium (or crit) racers in the world and local amateurs, Spectacular viewing areas from above. Beer garden and festival area around the start/finish line near the Olympic Legacy Plaza at The Gateway o Ample parking is available, but everyone is encouraged to take public transportation.

The Gateway has two easily accessible TRAX Stations. The last time a professional criterium of this level came to Utah was in 2014 and 2015 during the Tour of Utah Women’s Edition, an event for professional women criterium racers. Twenty of America’s elite men’s and women’s cycling teams from 14 different states have been invited to participate as USA CRITS D1 teams. 1:40 PM Racing starts 1:40 PM Men 4/5 2:20 PM Men 3/4 3:15 PM Masters Men Open 40 plus 4:10 PM Women 2/3/4 5:05 PM Men 1/2/3 6:10 PM Kids Race. Discovery Gateway 6:40 PM National Anthem 6:45 PM Pro Women 8:00 PM Pro Men 9:15 PM Awards Ceremony Local professionals include Park City resident, Katie Clouse who at the age of 17 has 26 national championships in road, mountain biking, and cyclocross. This year she placed third at the Athens Twilight Criterium, which is one of the longest standing criterium races in the US and part of the USA CRITS series. She races for the locally based DNA Pro Cycling Team.

AJ Turner, a Utah resident and employee of Ogden-based ENVE composites will be featured in the men’s professional race that starts at 8pm, riding for the Team Clif Bar Cycling. AJ Recently won the Utah State Criterium Championship held at Sugarhouse Park in May.
