KUTV — More teens are struggling with mental health issues than ever before. It's important to know how we can help!
Bekah of Cascade Academy joins Fresh Living to tell us about mental health treatment options.
If you're worried about your child's mental health, the first thing to do is to assess their safety. If their physical safety is at risk, you might want to take them to a hospital.
The next option is to find your child a good therapist, preferably one that specializes in whatever your child is struggling with.
For example, if your child is suffering from anxiety, Bekah recommends finding a therapist that specializes in anxiety, specifically ERP treatment or exposure response prevention.
If your child needs intense care, there are programs that can help! Intensive Out-Patient programs (IOP) could be a good option. Typically involving therapy sessions 4 - 5 days a week.
Finally, if around-the-clock care is needed, seek out inpatient programs, such as Cascade Academy, that can provide care, therapy, and more.
