(KUTV) — It’s Memorial Day which means grilling season has begun! As you’re getting ready to grill your burgers and brats, try using ingredients from local farmers and ranchers that can be found in grocery stores and farmer’s markets.
Utah’s Own is a state-run program that connects residents to local food and agricultural producers to strengthen and support our farmers, ranchers, and producers while bringing confidence to the table that you’re getting the freshest, safest food around.
Try switching out your cheese, buns, tomatoes, lettuce or condiments for a local product and taste the richer, more local flavors we get to enjoy right here in Utah.
It’s a myth that shopping local has to be expensive or inconvenient. Believe it or not - by visiting one website, www.utahsown.org, you can find hundreds of farm fresh products easily accessible via grocery stores, farmers markets and farm stands. When you visit a Utah’s Own member profile look for the “Can be Found Here” or “Shop Online” sections.
Have some fun discovering and cooking with new products you discover in your neighborhood. Dare to explore a bit beyond your usual staples.
