(KUTV) Dr. Renato Saltz's passion has been breast reconstruction surgery for women who battled breast cancer.
In 1998, he established the Image Reborn Foundation to give survivors a place to rest and relax.
"I really enjoy seeing the results of that foundation," he said.
Saltz started the foundation after noticing that many survivors were struggling after their reconstructive surgery.
"These women were never happy. They were sad. They were depressed," Saltz said.
He was confused by this, especially when surgeries had gone so well and had nearly perfect results.
"It was bigger than that. It was much more than reconstructing a breast," he said.
One of his nurses had breast cancer and reconstruction surgery, and told Saltz of a wonderful retreat she attended in Montana.
So he decided to start one in Utah.
"It gives people an opportunity to share their frustration, share their pain," he said.
