Six more Utah counties, including Weber, are now easing restrictions since their level of transmission has dropped to moderate.

One of the key changes is allowing organized events like sporting events, weddings and performing arts venues to return to side-by-side seating as long as no concessions are served. Masks must be worn, and other guidelines are in place.

The counties now in moderate are:

  1. Box Elder
  2. Carbon
  3. Duchesne
  4. Millard
  5. Morgan
  6. San Juan
  7. Uintah
  8. Weber

However, some are holding off on changes. A statement from Megaplex Theatres indicates social distancing practices and concessions will continue. Weber State University plans to continue with its current plans for campus events, with a limited number of fans attending games, through March 15.

The Ziegfeld Theater in Ogden plans to continue blocking off every other row for now.

“To take away a revenue stream to hopefully, potentially get more butts in seats is kind of a difficult thing for us to make that call right now,” said Morgan Parry, the theater’s executive producer.

Parry said once the theater begins selling out again, it may make sense to release more seats in exchange for ditching concessions.
