Playboy features its first transgender model

(WCIV) Playboy is making history again.

In a controversial move, the magazine has named its first transgender model a "Playboy Playmate."

French model Ines Rau will grace the centerfold of the November/ December edition of Playboy Magazine.

Along with Playboy, Rau has posed for Vogue, Italian Vogue and a Balmain Fashion Campaign.

According to reports, the decision to make Rau a playmate was made by Mogul Hugh Hefner’s son, Cooper Hefner, who is the magazine’s chief creative officer.

Former adult film star Jenna Jameson panned the decision to feature a transgender model, saying Playboy risks alienating its client base.

Jameson, who has been featured in Playboy a number of times, was hit with a barrage of criticism on social media with claims that she was attacking the LGBTQ community.

She shot back, "I think it's setting fire to an iconic brand and pandering to this ridiculous PC world we live in."

The November/ December edition will honor the life of Hugh Hefner, who died last month at the age of 91.
