Utah Symphony to perform third installment of Harry Potter Concert Series

(KUTV) -- The Harry Potter Film Concert Series is returning to Abravanel Hall.

The Utah Symphony will perform music from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on November 29, 30 and December 1 as the movie plays on a high-definition 40-foot screen.

"This film series continues to shows our commitment to creating exciting programming that inspires a whole new generation of symphony goers,” Utah Symphony | Utah Opera President and CEO Paul Meecham said in a press release.“I’m thrilled that we have had the chance to present to Utah audiences the entire iconic Harry Potter film series with live orchestral music. This has proven to be a fantastic opportunity for the Utah Symphony to expand its range of offerings, attract new audiences, and create a new holiday tradition for families of all ages.”

The performances for the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in concert are the third in a series of concerts that will be presented over the coming years as the Utah Symphony performs all eight films in the Harry Potter Film Concert Series.

This concert series is a global concert tour that has been celebrating Harry Potter films since 2016. More than half a million fans have enjoyed the musical experience from J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World. The series is scheduled to include over six-hundred performances across more than 38 countries worldwide through 2018.

Justin Freer, President of CineConcerts and Producer/Conductor of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series explained in a press release that,

"The Harry Potter film series is a once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomenon that continues to delight millions of fans around the world. It is with great pleasure that we bring fans for the first time ever an opportunity to experience the award-winning music scores played live by a symphony orchestra, all while the beloved film is simultaneously projected onto the big screen. This is truly an unforgettable event.
