(KUTV) A man has died as a result of a skiing accident at Beaver Mountain Ski Resort, according to the Cache County Sheriff's office.

At about 1:50 p.m. deputies and investigators were dispatched to the ski resort in Logan Canyon on a report of a skiing accident, according to Lt. Mike Peterson of the Cache County Sheriff's Department.

Police say 18-year-old Tyson Lloyd Shoemaker of Camano Island, Washington died after he lost control and ran off a groomed run and hit a tree.

The fatal accident was witnessed by other skiers who were able to call for help from the Beaver Mountain Ski Patrol. Responders found Shoemaker unresponsive and immediate lifesaving efforts were not successful.

Shoemaker was living in Logan, Utah and going to school at Utah State University, a news release stated.

Investigators are working with the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office to determine the exact cause of death.
