(KUTV) — A man from Logan was charged with rape and other sex crimes on Thursday. The 25-year-old suspect, identified as Miguel Angel Sanchez Rosario, is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl last summer when she was 16.

The rape occurred in Providence, Utah during the summer of 2017, according to a probable cause statement.

On June 13, 2018, the 17-year-old girl reported being raped by Rosario. She was interviewed at the Children's Justice Center and disclosed the alleged events, police say.

The juvenile told police she met Rosario on Snapchat sometime during the last two weeks of July 2017, court documents state.

According to a probable cause statement, she told police that she informed Rosario she was 16 years old.

The juvenile said she had consensual sex with Rosario three times, but on the fourth occasion he raped her, according to police. She recalled telling Rosario she was not interested in having sex while they were going for a drive.

According to the juvenile, Rosario parked the car in a secluded area in Providence, where he forced her to perform sex acts. He then force himself on her and raped her, according to a probable cause statement.

Afterward, Rosario drove the girl back to her car, which was parked at a Walmart in Logan, the juvenile told police.

Police then interviewed Rosario who, after being read his Miranda rights, said he had consensual sex with the girl on two occasions, police say. Rosario admitted to police that he knew the girl was eight years younger than him.

Rosario further admitted to having two nude photos of the juvenile on his phone, according to a probable cause statement.

When confronted about the rape accusation, Rosario told police that the girl got into his car willingly.

Rosario confirmed that the girl did tell him she did not want to have sex, police say.

The 25-year-old man told police that the girl performed the sex acts on him, and that she said it was alright to have sex, according to a probable cause statement. However, when the interviewing officer asked Rosario if the girl told him "No" to having sex, he admitted that she did say "No" at least twice.

According to police, Rosario was booked into jail on one count of rape for the admitting to having sex with the girl after she told him "No" at least twice, and for the girl's disclosure that she was forcibly raped by the man on June 13, 2018 in Providence.

Because Rosario had consensual sex with the girl on at least two occasions, he was charged with two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year-old, both third-degree felonies.

Lastly, because Rosario had two nude photos of the underage girl on his phone, he was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, both second-degree felonies.
