(KUTV) A 3-year-old girl lost two fingers in an escalator accident on Wednesday.
After getting her fingers stuck in an escalator, the girl lost two fingers at the second knuckle, according to Salt Lake City Fire.
Medical responders were called to the scene at a Smith's Marketplace at 455 S. 500 E.
She was taken to Primary Children's Medical Center.
In a statement, Smith's said, “We feel terrible this unfortunate incident took place at our store. Safety is one our core corporate values so we are grateful our Store Manager took immediate action to receive medical attention. We understand she was taken to Primary Children’s Medical Center and we are thankful for their medical care. Our hearts are with her and her family and we will be following her recovery.”
The girl's status is currently unavailable, and her name will not be released.
