Two juveniles were taken into police custody Friday night after a fight broke out at a high school basketball game in West Valley City.

A spokesperson for Granite School District said the initial fight at Granger High School was between two students following a basketball game between Granger and Kearns High School.

A Granite School District police officer at the game was able to step in and stop the fight, said Ben Horsely with Granite School District. After that, Horsely said two more different students began to harass the officer who broke up the fight, to the point where he felt threatened and called for backup. Officers with West Valley City Police and the Unified Police Department responded.

Horsely said two juveniles were taken into custody for not following an officer's command. He said the teens were physically threatening the officer, but that no weapon was reported.

Editor's note: This story previously said four juveniles were taken into custody, a number provided in error by Horsely.
