(KUTV) -- A body was recovered on Wednesday in Alpine after a trench collapsed while crews were building a backyard swimming pool.
According to Lone Peak Fire District Chief Reed Thompson, the employee of a contractor was doing some excavation when the trench wall fell.
The person had a "significant amount of dirt and material" on top of him, Thompson said.
Several crews from the area raced to save the person.
Fairly quickly, the rescue mission turned into a recovery operation.
"Our hearts go out to the family and those affected by this tragedy," the fire district wrote on Facebook.
Several agencies responded to the scene because of the labor intensive process of the rescue/recovery mission.
The identity of the deceased person has not been released.
