Shooting in Pleasant Grove leaves one man dead, shot by nephew

(KUTV) -- A shooting in the northwest area of Pleasant Grove left one man dead after being shot by his nephew, confirmed Pleasant Grove Police Cpt. Mike Roberts.

The shooting death occurred at 1373 W. 3040 North after a 50-year-old man with mental issues went to his brother's house with a claw hammer and sledge hammer in his hands.

The 28-year-old nephew of the man with the hammers answered the door.

Police say an altercation took place and the nephew pulled out a gun and shot his uncle, who was pronounced dead at American Fork hospital.

The shooter has been taken for a medical evaluation. The investigation is ongoing.

The identities of the men involved have not been released by police.
