Burn scar from I-15 tanker fire under repair, estimated to be done by 12 noon

(KUTV) - A double tanker hauling 10,000 gallons of diesel fuel caught fire Thursday night causing Interstate-15 closure and damage Utah Department of Transportation crews worked through the night to repair.

Crews laid temporary asphalt on the burn scar that permitted three left lanes of southbound I-15 to be accessible for motorists.

The HOV lane was open to Friday morning commuters without penalty as repair work continues with an estimated time of completion at 12 noon, UDOT reported.

Unified Fire Authority reported no injuries and no nearby structure damage during the fire that started at approximately 7:30 p.m., Thursday.
