(KUTV) -- Blacksmith Fork Canyon was temporarily closed after two men tried to run away from law enforcement Wednesday afternoon, the Cache Valley Daily reports.

Detectives from the Cache County Sheriff's Office were looking for a suspect who had run from the Cache County Jail, according to Lt. Brain Locke.

They came upon a suspicious vehicle during their search.

When the detectives tried to conduct a traffic stop, the occupants of the vehicle drove away into the Blacksmith Fork Canyon, Locke told the Cache Valley Daily.

Deputies found the driver, 28-year-old Jullian Kirkham, hiding near the vehicle.

Kirkham was booked into jail on suspicion of failing to stop at the command of law enforcement, assaulting a police officer, reckless driving, two counts of possession or use of a controlled substance and assaulting a police officer.

The second suspect has been identified, but he escaped custody. Police have filed arrest warrants for him and are still searching for him, the Cache Valley Daily reports.
