K-9 catches car thieves in Parowan

(KUTV) Two suspects were apprehended after leading police on a car chase that ended on foot, early Monday morning.

On Nov. 13 at approximately 2:10 a.m., authorities located a stolen vehicle, a 2013 Lincoln MKS, on I-15 headed south near MP 88.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects fled.

The stolen vehicle hit speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour, and eventually got off the freeway at exit 78 near the north end of Parowan.

The suspects went north on 100 W, and then turned west on 2200 north. They continued to flee west on 2200 N for five miles before going off the road.

The occupants, Tatiana Chavez, a 24-year-old female from West Valley, and Gabriel Lopez, a 33-year-old male from Murray, fled on foot.

Authorities utilized a K-9, which located the suspects within a half mile of the car. The suspects were taken into custody.

Charges are pending, as the investigation is ongoing.
