(KUTV) — Comcast announced Tuesday it is increasing internet speeds of its XFinity Internet service for existing Utah customers at no additional cost, Utah Business reports.

Speed increases will vary based on the Xfinity Internet customers' current speed subscriptions. The majority of customers will see a 50Mbps increase of speed.

"New and existing customers can expect to experience enhanced speeds this month," Utah Business reports.

The details are as follows:
Performance Starter - from 10/2 to 15/2
Performance Plus - from 55/5 to 60/5
Performance Pro - 100/5 to 150/5
Blast! Pro - 200/10 to 250/10

“Increasing Wi-Fi speeds gives us the opportunity to enhance the overall customer experience,” said Bryan Thomas, Area Vice President, Comcast’s Utah market. “Whether it’s streaming, gaming, shopping or surfing the web, customers need an internet provider that can deliver speed and these increases reflect our commitment to delivering the fastest speeds to our customers.”

In order to get the higher speeds, most customers will simply need to re-start their modems when notified by Comcast that the new speed is available.

Comcast will notify customers who may need to upgrade their modems in order to receive the increased speeds. Customers who own their own modems and need to upgrade them in order to receive the new speeds will need to buy a new one. Modems may also be leased from Comcast.

Customers who lease modems from Comcast are able to upgrade their modem free of charge.
