    UPDATE: (Feb. 27, 10:59 a.m.) -- The cougar has been caught and the shelter-in-place at Bluffdale Elementary School has been lifted, according to Jordan School District spokesperson Sandy Riesgraf.

    In a Facebook post from Bluffdale City, the cougar was not injured and will be released by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. The post stated:

    It did not even need to be tranquilized.

    (KUTV) -- A cougar was spotted in a field near Bluffdale Elementary School on Wednesday morning.

    Sandy Riesgraf with the Jordan School District says the cougar is trapped in a pipe in a field near 14000 S. 3100 West.

    The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is working to capture it.

    Bluffdale Elementary School is sheltering in place for the time being.

    Riesgraf says this is the third cougar sighting near a school in the past few months.
