A Utah man was arrested on Wednesday when SnapChat and Comcast reported he possessed child pornography with victims as young as four years old.

A court document stated that Jason Smith, 35, was arrested on 10 counts of sexually exploiting a minor.

On Aug. 16, SnapChat filed a CyberTipline report with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an account that uploaded images and videos of suspected child porn to a user's account. The incident itself occurred just before midnight that evening.

According to the probable cause statement, the social media application identified the reported account as username "spydad123" and the user's IP address. The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force in Utah then reviewed the files and confirmed the report. On Aug. 26, in accordance with a judicial order, Comcast reported that the subscriber of the IP address - later identified as Smith - resides in the Salt Lake area.

On Wednesday, the ICAC Task Force executed a residential search warrant at the reported address and made contact with Smith at the home. The probable cause statement wrote that post-Miranda warning, he admitted to having evidence of child pornography on his cellphone.

Trigger warning: The following contains details of the child pornography evidence found that may be upsetting to some readers.

During the interview, Smith admitted to law enforcement that he took voyeuristic photos of a 15-year-old girl while she was sleeping and other photos of more teenage girls without their knowledge, according to the probable cause statement. He also admitted to the task force that he owned the reported SnapChat account.

Taskforce agents then found the comforter depicted in one of the photos and an on-scene forensic search of Smith's cellphone found thousands of pictures and videos of child pornography, including:

  • A naked eight-year-old girl being raped by an adult male.
  • A naked five-year-old girl being sodomized and object raped by an adult female.
  • A naked four-year-old girl being sodomized and object raped by an adult female.
