(KUTV) Crews responded to a 2-alarm fire at 1500 S. Main St. in Salt Lake City Wednesday afternoon.
The blaze broke out at approximately 12:12 p.m., authorities say.
The Salt Lake City Fire Department said the vacant building is a total loss but no injuries were reported. The building's roof collapsed during the fire but no firefighters were inside and the blaze was battled from the outside.
It is not yet known how the fire started or if anyone was injured. According to officials from Salt Lake City Fire Department, investigators believe the building had been a meth lab 10 years ago, but have no evidence that it is a meth lab today.
Fire officials evacuated homes and businesses directly southeast of the fire, according to SLCFD.
Main Street was closed between 1300 and 1600 South in Salt Lake City and fire officials asked drivers to avoid the area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
