SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — There are Utah Jazz fans who are old enough to drive who have never seen "The Delta Center" on the home court - until Thursday, that is.
It may be odd to some Utahns to think about just how long it's been since the Delta Center moniker adorned the arena positioned at the southwest corner of the John Stockton Drive and Karl Malone Drive intersection in Salt Lake City.
It's been a while.
In the time since the the Atlanta-based airline last had naming rights to the Utah Jazz home court, the nation has elected three presidents, the iPhone shuttled in a new era of technology, and the world survived when the ancient Mayan calendar reached the end of its last baktun in 2012.
On May 25, 2023, after being absent for all those major events and more since naming rights were transferred in 2006, work on "The Delta Center" name began.
Crews removed the previous "Vivint Arena" from the exterior of the venue at the beginning of the month, and the four facades have stood nameless for just over three weeks.
