(KUTV)- A new U.S. Department of Labor proposal would allow employers to collect tips earned by front-of-house staff and redistribute it, as they see fit. It would even allow employers to keep gratuities.

The proposal would roll back Obama-era regulations prohibiting tip-pooling.

A 30-day public comment period is currently in effect. Anyone who would like to weigh in on the proposal has until Jan. 4, to do so.
