(KUTV) – Unified Fire investigators say a man in his 60s died in a Draper house fire Tuesday night.
Firefighters say the man’s body was found inside a burning bedroom in the home near 105 East 14965 South.
Investigators reported the man’s body had obvious injuries from smoke and heat, but the medical examiner’s office will determine the exact cause of death.
Unified Fire Authority public information officer Eric Holmes said neighbors from surrounding townhomes reported smoke in the area around 11:15 p.m.
When fire crews arrived they entered the home and found heavy flames burning in several areas. Unified Fire called for additional units in an attempt to contain the fire.
“Any time we see multi-residences like this, we’re obviously very concerned about common attic space, about the fire breaching walls into other units,” Holmes said.
Neighbors were evacuated for a brief time, but were allowed back into their homes after midnight.
Investigators say they have not made a determination of what sparked the fire, but they are looking into several possibilities.
