Police: Husband ran over and killed his wife with their SUV at SLC International Airport

Police have arrested a man for vehicular homicide after he allegedly ran over his wife and killed her Monday afternoon at Salt Lake City International Airport.

Police said 38-year-old Shawn Christopher Sturgeon hit his wife Charlotte Sturgeon, 29, with the couple's SUV after they returned from a vacation.

According to Salt Lake City Police, the incident started on the on second floor of the airport parking garage around 2:40 p.m. Monday.

"Shortly after the crash, Sturgeon drove the vehicle, with his wife critically injured inside, to the airport parking payment booths where he asked for help," police wrote in a news release Monday night.

Police said Charlotte Sturgeon was transported to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Shawn Sturgeon has been arrested on suspicion of automobile homicide - criminal negligence DUI, according to police.

The couple's most recent address is in Taylorsville.

Police said there were no impacts to airport operations or air travel associated with this incident or the investigation.
