(KUTV) — A large blaze consumed an apartment complex in Salt Lake City for a short time overnight.
Crews responded to Jefferson School Apartments at 1099 S. West Temple at approximately 4 a.m., according to the Salt Lake City Fire Department.
The 12-unit building was evacuated.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames around 5 a.m.
The fire caused significant damage to the building and 15 people were displaced. Two firefighters were injured after ceiling tiles fell on top of them. The Salt Lake City Fire Department reported the fire wall inside the apartment complex helped keep the flames from spreading.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
West Temple was shut down in both directions for about two hours.
