SALT LAKE CITY — (KUTV) -- 31-year-old South Salt Lake police officer David Romrell leaves behind a wife and a 4-month-old baby after his death Saturday night.
Romrell's family has set up a GoFundMe account to aid his widow and baby boy.
Romrell died from injuries sustained after he was hit by a car driven by Felix Calata while responding to a burglary.
Calata was shot and killed by police. Earlier this year he had been involved in a car crash that killed another person. No charges were filed in that case.
A second person who was initially describes as a suspect in the crime was released from police custody with no charges to be filed.
