(KUTV) — A new fire burning west of Utah Lake has raged through more than 50 acres, and fire officials say it's still growing.

Officials have called out ground and air resources from four different agencies to help contain the blaze, which they're calling the Chaparral Fire.

The fire is burning in the wooded area near Lake Mountain, west of Utah Lake, said U.S. Forest Service spokesperson Jason Curry.

No residential structures are threatened by the fire at this time, Curry said. There is some communications infrastructure in the area, however, which Curry says is a priority for firefighters to protect.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. 2News will update this story as more information about containment of the Chaparral Fire becomes available.
