Haunted house employee groped on the job asks public to come sober, not touch employees
(KUTV) — The scares are becoming a little too real this week for a haunted house employee in West Haven.
Autumn Satterfield says she was sexually assaulted while playing her role of the nun at Haunted Hollow. She alleges that incident happened on Saturday around 9:15 p.m.
The suspect is described as being about 5 feet 6 inches tall, and was wearing a baseball shirt, jeans and a cap. Satterfield said he was with a group of about eight people and left in a limo.
Even more terrifying, though, Satterfield and her co-worker, Maddy Stewart, say assaults — both physical and sexual — aren’t uncommon at haunted houses.
Stewart says customers often dehumanize the people acting in these roles, and some even come to the haunted houses drunk.
Satterfield says she could smell the alcohol on the man she says groped her. Both young women told 2News that if you’re coming for scares, please be sober and keep your hands to yourself.
Some haunted houses, like this one, are non-contact — which means the staff will never touch customers, and customers aren’t allowed to touch the staff. Other houses have different rules.
