(KUTV)- On New Years Day, Sergeant Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office was reunited with the young boy he saved from drowning in a frozen pond on Christmas of 2017.

Even though Jason, the 8-year-old boy Thompson saved has no memory of the icy incident itself, both were excited to finally meet one other for the first time since the accident.

Noted in a Facebook post on the Washington County Sheriff's Office page, the boys family "is humbled by the overwhelming support from both the local community and people across the world."

To remember the incident that happened that Christmas day, Thompson gave Jason his Sheriff's badge he was wearing when he jumped into the icy water to save him.
