(KUTV) — Highway 89 was re-opened on Thursday and evacuated residents in the are were allowed to return to their homes.
The residents will remain on pre-evacuation status, Utah County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Spencer Cannon said in a tweet.
Some residents were allowed home on Wednesday, but Cannon announced the remainder would be able to return to their homes Thursday.
The highway was closed last week for safety reasons as s growing number of firefighting personnel worked to contain the Pole Creek and Bald Mountain Fires.
The fires are now over 113,000 acres combined and are being fought on the ground by about 1,900 firefighting personnel.
