(KUTV) What started out as a small brush fire led to Interstate 15 being shut down on Monday evening at the border for a few hours.
According to Arizona Public Safety, at approximately 4:30 PM a brush was reported fire near the Beaver Dam and Littlefield, Arizona area. Which is approximately 30 minutes south of St. George, Utah.
Sgt. John Bottoms with Arizona Public Safety tells 2News that it may have been started by an unapproved controlled burn. ADOT and the Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire Departments are on scene and working to put out the fire.
By about 11 p.m. northbound traffic on I-15 was back open, and ADOT Arizona Public Safety state southbound lanes should be open before midnight.
The closure begins northbound in Arizona at milepost 8 and southbound at milepost 28. Northbound and Southbound traffic is being directed to take Old Highway 91 which takes drivers though Santa Clara.
