(KUTV) People all over Utah saw a remarkable event in the skies Wednesday night as bright, unidentified lights streaked across the sky.
Seth Jarvis from Clark Planetarium said he was sure it was space debris descending and burning up in the atmosphere.
It is likely the sightings were in a larger geographic area than just Utah.
An astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Jonathan McDowell, said on Twitter, that it is a stage of a rocket launched in June.
The phone lines at KUTV erupted from people around the state wanting to report what they saw and confirm that they weren't the only ones to see it.
Calls came from north and south of Salt Lake City while other callers phoned in from Price and Hurricane and reported seeing the objects as if they were right over their heads.
The debris was confirmed by this website that tracks man-made objects in space.
