(KUTV) — Portraits of women of all sizes are surfacing on social media, clothing advertisements and now, throughout Ogden.
The project started with 5 women from the Ogden community, who display their insecurities for a photographer. Examples of women pictured include, "a successful career woman and mother who picks apart her physical appearance, a successful business owner who has battled her issues with self esteem," the project states.
Located at 2424 Wall Ave. in Ogden, HEAL Yoga Studio and Hippy Skin displays portraits of five women photographed for the Esteem Project on the first Friday of every month from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Esteem Project aims to highlight societal norms about beauty by painting an authentic picture of real women in the community, as well as their desire to feel beautiful, despite their "perceived limitations," the mission statement says.
The project also collects letters of love and encouragement for each woman, and ask for support to keep the positive effect going.
