(KUTV) — An 81-year-old man is dead after he apparently fell into Lake Powell Wednesday night.
On Thursday, a dive team located the body of Jimmie D. Randall who fell in the water while trying to secure a "vessel" to a houseboat. His fishing partner dove into the water to try to rescue him. The call of the possible drowning was made at approximately 9 p.m.
Randall was found 46 feet from shore in 44 feet of water. He was not wearing a life jacket when he entered the water. The recovery operation were National Park Service rangers, a Utah State Parks officer and a San Juan Sherrif deputy.
An autopsy will be performed in Salt Lake City and the death is still under investigation.
