Man arrested after crashing into Utah assisted living home causing substantial damage
(KUTV)- A 38-year-old man crashed the van he was driving into the Wentworth assisted living home Thursday evening causing substantial damage and a ruptured gas line.
According to police, the crash happened around 6 p.m., at the assisted living home located near 11631 700 E in Draper.
Residents had to evacuate due to the gas leak, and police say 3-4 residents complained of chest pain. Currently, police say there are no serious injuries.
Police say the driver of the van hit the building and then left the scene. Police found the driver not too far from the nursing home, and he is now under arrest. Police are investigating causes of the crash which may include drugs and or alcohol impairment.
